One may not be off-base when it comes to the understanding of intimacy, yet may still need to shift the perspective on what self-intimacy actually resembles. In amidst Covid fear, a calming and Meraki touch of intimacy in these anything-but-ordinary times leaves one with the only option of being as the sole and safest intimate partner. But sex is not the only type of intimacy one can root for. At the point when one considers intimacy, it is frequently considered as a sexual act only and thus generally viewed as equivalent. There are a few things one ought to have in their intimacy kit to help slay their life. Whether it’s learning to say no, feeling ok while being on their own, or walking away from a toxic situation.

Irrespective of gender, self-intimacy has been a hard concept for society to accept for years. At its core, self-esteem and self-love are unrestricted acknowledgment of one’s identity. This means accepting all aspects of ourselves. While self-care is often advertised as expensive luxuries, such as massage, spa days, and healthy foods, in reality, self-care is any intimate action that leads to increased feelings of accepting one’s existence.

Divinity is intimacy and sexuality is a way of exploring. There is a well-said quote that, “Adore yourself first and all the other things will fall into line”, without a doubt one truly needs to cherish oneself to feel complete from the soul. Self- intimacy often co-linked with the masturbation act which is still taboo but it is actually a moment to oneself, to feel something good in oneself! It is still believed to be a huge amount of shame and stigma around discussing self-pleasure. Let alone, actually doing it.

Here are some quick facts to have a glance at positive aspects of navigating through perks of practicing self-intimacy;

  1. One can participate with their own duly signed consent.

  2. Cultivates self-love, promotes self-esteem and self-confidence.

  3. Natural stress reliever.

  4. Proven to improve sleep.

  5. Makes one love each curve and shape with adoration.

Oh no no! You don’t have to navigate your intimacy to reap the positivity. One is completely normal whether self-intimacy is a part of their life or not. People who are afraid of being intimate often have the desire, but the fear of being hurt and disappointed is stronger as many are holding on to their negative experiences mostly. So to overcome the fear of intimacy, it is must to start with building an intimate relationship with oneself so that one gets comfortable with the feeling.

Self-love leading to self-intimacy is a central aspect of almost all-natural healing modalities that have entered into the mainstream vocabulary. And, more profoundly, one can navigate self-love in a positive way holistically with Ayurveda, the traditional science of healing life and improving a way of living that originated in India and is serving humanity for more than the last 5000 years. Basically, the understanding of Ayurvedic body constitution (or Prakruti) helps to understand the body-mind-soul complex of the individual.

In Ayurveda, everything is all about following the rhythms of nature. Nature is changing from seasons to seasons and so is our body. It is different at different times of day, seasons, phases of life and according to the food, activities, and emotions we consume. So it is imperative to adjust to the changes happening in the body and outer world. Strong vitality (Ojas in Ayurvedic classical texts), not only supports nourishment of bodily tissues, but also supports a stable mind, clear consciousness, and better stress resilience. Regardless of how often one gets it on, one can adopt Ayurveda, the holistic approach to improve personal life and to save and build vitality. Here is how:

  1. Attempt to foster passionate intimacy in the relationship by participating in more profound and more thoughtful discussion, discussing feelings, experiences that one doesn’t typically share with others.

  2. Include Ayurvedic herbs like Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari), Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha), White Root Chlorophytum Borivilianum (Shweta museli), etc with hot spiced milk and then go to town with balanced hormonal levels, balanced psyche, and high self-confidence.

  3. Yoga supports both Ojas (vitality) and fulfilling intimate life. So from the mat to the self-pleasing mattress,  focus on grounding poses like standing lunges, squats, seated twists, and prone backbends.

  4. Thriving intimate life is based on trust and connection. Create a safe space to express feelings. One can surely learn to masturbate as it allows one to explore the body and to find out what they think is best for them, thus aiding in creating the space for deep connection.

  5. Indulge in a daily self-massage rhythm with herbal essential oils to get connected to yourself more discreetly.

If the vulnerability required to achieve intimacy feels scary, you're not alone. Fear of intimacy holds a purpose, and most likely it's protection, but all that means is that one needs an alternative way of feeling safe. Feeling insecure both physically and mentally is usually nature’s pat on one’s shoulder to remind us to take care of the body. When we assume liability for our own joy and have a balanced schedule that leaves us feeling active, healthy, delightful, and essentially great, we automatically radiate the twinkling love.
