Where are you based?
Pittsburgh, PA.
You quickly rose to fame as a mother on the internationally known hit series, “Dance Moms.” Was dancing always a paramount within your family?
I always wanted to be a dancer, but never had the opportunity.
What inspired you to join the show?
It was honestly the life we were already living, and I thought it would be six episodes, so why not?
Were you surprised that Chloé went back to Dance Moms in Season 7?
Yes, very surprised. But she felt like she needed closure and I respected that.
You also have a new project coming out in September: Adulting 101. Can you tell us a bit about this and what inspired you to start it?
I have had young women asking me questions for years and they always say “I wish I had a mom like you,” so I wanted a way to help as many young people as I could, on a large scale.
Can you tell us a little bit about the “YourMomCares” initiative, and your role as a member? How did you get involved with this group?
YMC is a group of celebrity and influencer moms who are working to help change the dialogue from mental illness to mental wellness. I admired that the core group of women had a mission to help as many children as possible.
As a mom, shelter in place has easily doubled most mothers’ workloads. How have you been handling the new demands, and what advice would you pass onto other mothers?
I had to create a new workspace for myself and really stick to a schedule. If I don’t, I am not productive at all!
The US is going through a huge debate on whether or not kids should go back to school in the fall or continue distance learning. Please let us know your thoughts on this.
I worry because nothing has changed since we sheltered in place in March. Why is it safer now?
How are you and your girls staying positive during these times?
We really enjoy family time and look at the extra time as a gift that forced us to slow down.
What is your motto in life?
You only live once. Try it and if it doesn’t work out, you can always do something else.
