From a commercial to your screens, Boo Bitch! Alyssa Jirrels is playing an unexpected mother in the Netflix comedy series, but you will see and hear much more of her. She is now filming to play the lead character, Ellen Gallagher, in the new Paramount+ Fatal Attraction series alongside Lizzy Caplan, Joshua Jackson, and Amanda Pete, to name a few in the drama-thriller series. Alyssa has been involved in bringing awareness to Autism, participating in "As We See It," and since her role in the short "Under the Lights," she has been a strong advocate for bringing awareness to Epilepsy. Jejune knows that you started acting and participating in musical theater from a really young age. Which was your first time on TV? Could you tell us more about it?
I did a Subaru commercial when I was 10. I got to eat a marshmallow during it, and I think I was pretty psyched about that.

What would you say was your big inspiration or passion for becoming an actress?
The Harry Potter movies were big for me. I don't think I registered that they were even movies until I saw a behind-the-scenes video — realizing that was something you could do as a job blew my mind.

You started on TV, but you did your first film, "This Is The Year" in 2020. How was the transition?
Both have their pros and cons. A film is a much more condensed experience than a tv show, especially that one because we were on location in Alabama for about a month. You kind of just live in this weird hotel bubble with the rest of the cast, seeing them every day and getting coffee at the same local spots, and then you go home and never see those people again. It's this wonderful little alternate reality time capsule.

We are living in a world of higher expectations but also in a moment when people have the opportunity to show off who they want to be. In This Is The Year, you play Zoey, the dream girl of Josh's. However, Zoey isn't showing who she is and feels because everyone has a different opinion about her. What would you say about this?
Yeah, Zoey was cool because she definitely was written as a victim of the stereotypical male gaze, so to speak, and she got the chance to break out of it of her own accord. I think it's an experience a lot of people go through at that age, you kind of externally reference your identity until it really costs you something that matters, and for her, it was her career and passion as an artist.

Congrats on your lead character, Ellen Gallagher, in the new Paramount+ Fatal Attraction series. Can you tell us more about the series and your role?
Yeah, I can't say much because we're still filming but I'm so excited about it. We all know the original movie, of course. The series is a reimagining of it but through a more modern perspective. Themes such as marriage, strong woman, personality disorders, and coercive control are all touched on in the original, but now we have eight hours to go into the nuances of it all, also with a few more years of social and psychological understanding behind us. It's an outstanding show, in my (unbiased) opinion. I think people are gonna really like it.

You are Nicole Dietrich in "As We See It"; What a beautiful show, the issues portrayed in the series are part of many people's lives. Could you share with us how it was to be part of it and why we should be talking more about Autism? What do you hope the audience gets from this show?
I loved my experience on that set. Jason Katims shows have such a heart to them, and on top of that, it's his style to allow for a lot of freedom and connection to take place while you're acting, so it was just a very supportive, loving environment, and that completely shows up onscreen. And the actors could not have done a more beautiful job.

I think the show really speaks for itself in terms of why we should be talking more about Autism. It is an incredibly nuanced, versatile experience, and the show deals with it with as much depth and specificity as it deserves, which is rare. Also, Jack, Violet, and Harrison have completely different strong suits and challenges, so it's not just a singular perspective. It touches on so many different aspects. I heard Rick Glassman say in an interview, "if you meet one person with autism, you have met one person with autism," and I think this show really exemplifies that.

You were stunning in "Under the Lights"; we've learned that even with agents saying it could be silly for you and Pearce Joza to play in a short movie, you both stand up and support the film because of its message. Why did you decide to support this? Can you tell us more about your relationship with Epilepsy? Why was this so important to you?
I wanted to be in it #1 because the script and story were beautiful and #2 because Miles Levin, the director, was so deeply passionate and committed to sharing his experience that it made the project have almost a spiritual gravity to it.

I didn't know anything about Epilepsy before I shot this film, but in the process of promoting it, I got to meet a lot of people who either have Epilepsy themselves or are very close with someone who does, and getting to hear their stories was profound. Living with Epilepsy can dictate your life, which is hard enough on its own, and even harder when it feels like there's a stigma or a stereotype around it. People like Miles, and honestly the Cameron Boyce foundation as well, are really pioneering a different way of speaking about it (through cinema, through art) and raising awareness for it. I'm really blessed to witness and be a part of that.
