Lexy Kolker - Friends, Family, & Hollywood
Lexy Kolker likes to keep it real. Based in Los Angeles and inspired by her sister, Ava, Lexy was introduced to the industry early on and acting comes naturally for her. Especially her latest role as Riley in Manifest West, which Lexy can relate to a lot. Acting aside, Lexy also likes to give back by working with organizations like Pawworks and St. Jude Hospital. Let Jejune Magazine take you deeper into the life of Lexy Kolker.
Where are you based?
I am based in Los Angeles
What made you get into acting?
I always watched my sister Ava on TV and thought it was so cool, and thought I wanted to do that too.
What was it like growing up in a household with a sister who was already an actor? Did she inspire you?
100%. She is the reason I am an actor. I don’t think I would ever have thought of it, if it wasn’t for her. It was really fun, because she would get recognized and invited to a bunch of cool events and she would always take me.
You recently starred in Samuel Goldwyn’s film Manifest West which is about how a family lives off the grid. What do you think about living a quiet, low-key life? Could you do it?
There’s no way I could do it. I would miss my friends too much. I love the active life in LA. I get bored pretty easily; so, I need my technology, to do different things all the time, to meet different people, and to have different experiences. I think I would go crazy living off the grid. Having said that, being in the mountains for a few weeks was awesome, but I was ready to come home after.
Of course the storyline for Manifest West doesn’t stop there. Can you tell us a bit about the film and some of your favorite parts?
I loved the fact that the family is so close and will do anything for each other. I loved the fact that it was a family filming experience with the Gibson brothers and Annet Mahendru, and, of course, I got to work with my sister and our best family friend Madison Friedman.
Can you tell us a bit about your character Riley? Do you see yourself in her?
Actually I do. Riley is very observant and watches what is happening to her mother and her family. She’s very strong, brave and mature. I feel like I can relate to her because I have had a lot of experiences when I am the only kid and have always watched the adults react and learned from them.
Not only do you act, but you are big on giving back. We love that you work with Pawworks? Can you tell us a bit about Pawworks and what you do with them?
Sure, Pawworks is an organization that rescues dogs and cats from kill shelters and they spay or neuter them, give them their shots, get them any needed medical treatment, and then put them up for adoption. I love volunteering there and helping to socialize the dogs and give them love to increase their trust with humans after they’ve suffered so much.
What is St. Jude and what made you support the organization?
St. Jude is a medical research hospital that cures kids cancers and other diseases, but never bills the family. I am part of the young Hollywood group who helps raise funds for them.
Do you have any new projects in the works for 2023?
Yes, I actually have a very exciting project which I will hopefully be filming in march. I can’t disclose what it is yet, but I can’t wait to tell everyone all about it.
It has been a rough few years. How have you been staying positive during these times?
Yes, it has been rough, but I have been lucky to spend a lot of quality time with my family and friends, so that has kept me happy and positive.
What is your motto in life?
To stay true to myself and keep moving forward, even when there is nothing positive going on.
