Where are you based?
Los Angeles, CA.

Before committing to acting, you trained for the 2016 Olympics in hopes to qualify for track and field. What drew you towards the entertainment industry?
I always had love and passion for entertainment when I was kid, and was drawn to show business.

Do you still run?
Yes, just not as competitively, I just run to workout.

Does your athletic background still have an influence on your role preparation?
Absolutely, running is where I do most thinking, so it helps me process and analyze things when I’m trying to prep. Also, it's a good form of decompression.

You will make your SXSW debut in the festival's most highly anticipated horror film ‘Bitch Ass,’ which is the first all-Black cast horror/slasher film in the SXSW history. What is the film about and what role do you play?
Yes, I went to SXSW! It was an amazing experience especially being from Texas, it felt like a bit of a homecoming for me with a real accomplishment. The community in Austin was so fun and friendly at the festival. Bitch Ass is about a gang initiation which goes wrong when a group of four recruits break into a house of horror, as they're all forced to play deadly games for their lives. Win, and you live — lose, and you die. In the movie I play Tuck the young gang member who is also the nephew of Spade, the gang leader, played by Sheaun McKinney (CBS: The Neighbors). I lead the group of teens that break into the game house. Noted others in the movie were Tunde Laleye, Bitch Ass (Marvel: Black Panther) and Legend, and Tony Todd (Candyman).

This film looks terrifying! What are you most excited for audiences to watch in this film?
For every horror movie it’s all about the kill scenes! I think I'm most excited for people to see that.

Do you have any other future projects that you would like to promote?
Currently I can get into much detail with my next project, but stay tuned for the fun horror project I was in.

In terms of charitable efforts, in college, you joined in community efforts to clean up the beaches in Long Beach. What inspired this passion for environmental responsibility?
I love nature and taking care of the earth. I’m very big on nature and animals, even since I was kid. I think it’s definitely our duty to be responsible for the imprint and effects we have on the planet. Since we are the most intelligent species on the planet, we should use that intelligence to give back to our environment creating a balance.

You are also a supporter of the Leonardo DiCaprio Environment Foundation. How are you involved with this organization?
I’m currently not involved, but I would love to be! I love and admire the work Leo is doing to try to inform people to what is going on. I would love to contribute to his organization by being a different voice to the people. Speaking to urban communities and getting them more connected.

How do you plan to continue your environmental activism in the future?
I plan on fostering again, for sure, once I get some time again. And also going to conservational parks and learning about what’s going on in a local level with the environment. I believe when you start small and work within the community, you’ll have a better understanding of how your community imprints in the world.

Also, in 2020 you joined Best Friends LA and fostered a beautiful dog named Gemma. What was the fostering experience like?
It was really one of the best experiences I have ever had. Loved every min. of it! Gemma was literally an angel sent from God during the pandemic.

Do you plan to foster more dogs in the future?
Of course, I can’t wait to take a beautiful doggy soul in.

If someone wanted to get into fostering dogs what advice would you give them?
I'd definitely say make sure you have enough time to take care of these animals because a lot of them are scared or have had some kind of trauma. So, a lot of patients and love are the key things you need to provide for them.

How are you staying positive during the current wave of the pandemic?
Honestly, I pray and mediate. When you've got faith, you don’t have much to worry about. So, you might as well think positively and manifest what you want out of life.

What does your new normal look like?
Waking up every morning at 8am and getting my day started and prepped.

What is your motto in life?
YOLO (You only live once) — why not live it to say you lived the best one.
