Hope...
At some point in our lives we will all come to a time where either ourselves or someone we love comes down with a serious illness. We will feel lost, angry, and powerless, but underneath all that, we will have hope. Because without hope we have nothing. People fight and die for hope. I looked up the definition for hope, and none of the ones measured up to the feeling, the yearning, that one experiences when they hope. Hope is one of the most powerful feelings in the world.
This is why Jejune loves Bonnie Holland's editorial, that we affectionately titled Hope. She spoke to us about a friend of her's who's sister was diagnosed with beast cancer, so they had the whole family tested. Unfortunately, her friend tested positive. Seven years after having her surgery she found out that the MRI had been read incorrectly and she in fact had metastatic breast cancer to the bone. The silver lining is that it now four years later, and her friend is doing great! The science behind treating cancer has come a long way, and we hope it continues to.
This editorial is Bonnie's gift to her friend, and hero. We hope it gives everyone a little more hope to their day.
