Jakari Fraser - The Voice Of The Hungry
Jakari Fraser is America’s upcoming child voice actor. Starting out early in the industry, Jakari’s first encounter with voice acting drew him in, where he now excels. His passion and optimism is what makes him a fan favorite. He started with voice overs for brands and moved towards shows, his latest being Spiderman in ‘Spidey and His Friends’. Apart from acting, Jakari is also very passionate about stopping hunger. He started this journey with No Kid Hungry', which aims to end poverty based hunger in America, but he has also started his own non profit Kid Kari Kares, which works towards a similar cause. Let Jejune Magazine take you through an exclusive interview with Jakari Fraser!
Where are you based?
I am based in Los Angeles California.
How did you get into acting and voice acting?
I got into voice acting when I went into an agency for an agent interview. They thought I would be perfect for voiceovers, and they couldn’t have been more right!
You have been in a few Marvel cartoons. Can you tell us a little bit about your experience being Spider-man in "Spidey & His Amazing Friends”?
Portraying Miles Morales, aka Spin, has been a dream come true.
Do you have a favorite superhero?
Yes, my favorite superhero is Spiderman.
You have done more voice acting than live acting. What about voice acting connects with you?
I wouldn’t say either connects more than the other. I love acting in general. We hit a pandemic and voice acting was in demand more than ever because people started to realize it was a lot easier to record during the pandemic than actually having to pull a full production team together, that’s needed on set for a live action.
Will we be seeing you doing more live acting in the future? What would be your dream role?
Yes, I have quite a few live action roles that I am currently working on, my dream role is to play miles Morales in a live action film.
In addition to acting, we love that you are very passionate about kids not going hungry! Can you tell us a bit about your work with No Kid Hungry?
I work with No Kid Hungry to raise awareness on the fact that children do not eat everyday.
You even started your own non-profit! We’d love to know more about Kid Kari Kares! What inspired you to start Kid Kari Kares? Can you tell us a bit about the organization?
Kid Kari Cares came about because when I asked my mom and grandma do kids eat everyday they told me no. I went to bed that night very sad for the kids that didn’t get to eat, I woke up the next morning and asked my mom is there I way I could use my platform to help raise awareness to this ongoing issue. She in turn said of course, together my parents and I put together Kid Kari Cares. Kid Kari Cares is a non profit organization that I use to donate to various different charities in hopes to make a small difference in the world.
What inspired you to work with families suffering from starvation and poverty?
The story itself, I don’t know why it was a question I had, but I do know when I heard that there are children out there, and just people in general, that don’t eat everyday, I just felt a deep sadness for them.
Hunger is an issue all over the world. What are your hopes for Kid Kari Kares’s reach?
I hope that Kid Kari Cares can reach a global audience and bring about an extensive amount of change to the world today. I believe everyone should eat at least three meals everyday, and it’s not ok that’s not the case in the world we live in.
Where do you see yourself in a few years, as an actor and a philanthropist?
I would say as an actor I see myself getting better everyday and enjoying the journey because acting is something I love. As a philanthropist I see myself doing everything I can to use my platform to bring awareness to issues that are important to me.
It has been a rough few years, how have you been staying positive during these times?
I have been staying positive by being grateful for life, for health and for my family. Staying positive is a way of life.
What is your motto in life?
My motto is to be thankful for everything and to stay present. Never take anything for granted, every aspect of life on this journey is a gift.
