Kix’ies is the thigh-high brand for all. Breaking down size barriers and tight stereotypes, Kix’ies made their own lane for legwear. Kix'ies thigh Highs are the fun and flexible solution to looking sexy and feeling comfortable on a night out. Their collections range from funky thigh highs to cozy socks to sexy tights. All of their collections embody their motto of remaining fun and free. Freedom to be comfortably yourself and freedom to have fun without worry. Their thigh-highs include an elastic band that keeps them snug all day without slipping. Each piece is made with durable fabrics that will last without wear and tear.

I had the chance to try several of their designs and was so impressed by the quality. Right out of the package, my first impression of the thigh-highs was how buttery soft the material was. Putting the tights on was so easy they glided up my legs and the elastic band sat perfectly. I even did a little jog test and there was no slip at all. I also received a pair of the classic black fishnet tights and they blew my expectations. I don't usually wear tights because they have never fit me the way I would like but these Kix’ies hugged the curves of my body in such a flattering way. I felt sexy and unstoppable.

Since I am such a big fan of Kix’ies, I wanted to learn more about the brand and how it got started. I got the chance to chat with the founder Samantha DeMartini about how Kix’ies came to be. Keep reading below to hear the story that started it all and where she is going from there.

Where are you based?
Concord, CA.

How did Kix’ies get started?
I was seventeen years old and getting in the most popular boy at schools truck for a ride home. As I climbed in, my skirt got stuck in my backpack, exposing my “nylon butt.” You know, when a girls’ rear end is smushed into a pair of high-waisted nylon tights. I quickly jerked my skirt free and hopped in the truck, but the thought that he had seen me at my unflattering worst horrified me.*

That day, I decided I never wanted to be humiliated like that again. So I went out looking for something fun to wear on my legs that didn’t pinch my waist and make me look like a stuffed sausage. But all I could find were those traditional thigh-high stockings, the super thin ones that run if you look at them the wrong way and come in only the most boring colors. I knew I wanted to create something that would work for all body types. But this little thing called 'life' intervened. I got busy with work and raising my kids, and my thigh-high idea took a back seat.

That was until one sunny day, drifting out on a sailboat, I told a very dear friend my idea and the story behind it. It was in that moment that I knew I could do it. Sometimes all it takes is just the right person to give you the confidence; to believe in you enough that you believe in yourself. It was that day I began to put the wheels in motion.

Along the way, I’ve learned a lot, and one of the most important things I realized was how starting this venture would let me give back to the people and causes that mean so much to me. I made the decision to donate a percentage of each Kix’ies® sale to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of my dad who passed away from Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1995. And because I had the support of so many great women throughout my life, I named the first six designs after them.

Though my story is a good one, what’s even better is the product itself. I am so proud and excited to share Kix’ies® Thigh Highs with you.

Here’s why: I believe we want to feel good about ourselves. We don’t want to be crammed in a pair of tights with the dreaded “muffin” top poking out for the world to see.

Kix’ies® are practical, comfortable, and even healthy for women (they let our “girl parts” breathe). And yes, they may even feel a bit sexy to wear, which is an added bonus!

Where did the name Kix’ies come from?
Growing up my mom always said something was "kicky" if it was fun and flirty.. I loved the sound of it.

What makes Kix'ies thigh-highs and tights different from other brands?
Kix'ies ACTUALLY stay up. Our unique sizing keeps Kix'ies in place without giving you a muffin thigh.

You are a size-inclusive brand, why was this so important to you?
Not everybody type is the same. It isn't fair to cater to just one market. We all want to feel good.. and Kix'ies make you feel confident and sexy!

Where do you draw your inspiration for the Kix’ies designs?
I tend to see what is trending, but also look to past fashion.. things always come full circle.

I had the chance to try a couple of pairs of thigh-highs and they are insanely comfortable. How important was it to create such a breathable design? What was that process like?
The stay-up power was my number one goal. Once we solved that problem, we focused on softness and durability.

If you were to suggest the must-have thigh highs, what would they be?
You can’t go wrong with Danille, black opaque or Taylor the sheer black... black is timeless... But that said, I love some of our more fun.. "kicky" patterns, like the Jackie or Keila.

Can you tell me about the Kix-forward Foundation?
My father died way too young at the age of 49. I wanted to do something to honor him and also help in the fight against cancer. A portion of sales are donated back to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in his honor. In the coming year, we are seeking to support various other organizations. Giving back is something I have always been drawn to.

What does the future look like for Kix’ies?
We are thrilled to announce a whole new launch in January 2024... it is a market we have always wanted to gain access to, but had to find.. well, a workaround.. stay tuned!
