Women With Strong Female Friendships Have A Surprising Advantage Among Everyone
Women With Strong Female Friendships Have
A Surprising Advantage Among Everyone
By Alison Hernon
Women tend to stick up for and remain loyal to one another. They defend every action to the point of dressing up like each other. Some women can be competitive with each other and show jealous streaks, but strong females make lasting friendships. For them, the sky is the limit. I just read "Gold Dust Woman," a biography by Stephen Davis about the rock singer Stevie Nicks. From the beginning, Stevie had a small entourage of women whom she trusted and supported; they even dressed similarly, no one could get past them to get to Stevie. Early on, Stevie experienced jealousy and tensions from her band. She overcame these as she became a successful solo artist, starting with the album “Belladonna”, which went straight to number 1. Her female support and friendships gave her the courage to prevail. After singing for forty years, she still uses her two main back-up singers: Sharon Celani and Lori Perry-Nicks. She has maintained that loyalty and bond through-out her career.
